Hi reader,
You can listen to this blog on Spotify too!
It’s 2022! How fast the time flies, it’s been 4 years of blogging, and it feels like it was yesterday when I thought to start blogging! Just kidding, not yesterday, but yet the time flew pretty quickly. Recently, I was reading a post on LinkedIn, which sounded like:
There will be a lot of posts soon with people sharing how much they achieved in 2021, in the midst of the Global Pandemic, etc. But in case someone needs to hear this, I’m here to tell you that just making it to 2022 is an achievement.
That alone will be something to celebrate.
Being into the pandemic for 2 years now, going into lockdowns, facing the challenges, coming out of lockdowns and then repeating with a new wave of infections, the time has been very stressful. We all have lost a lot. Time, people, moments, memories, a lot! At times, it felt like whether we will see 2022 or not, but here we are now. And it is none less to celebrate, and a dream-come-true moment for that tiny dream we all saw during the year 2021, of having it ended sooner, and start afresh.
Dreams are weird. They make you think as if writing a movie climax around them, how would it look like when it comes true, how would it feel to ourselves, how would it feel to family and friends, say you dreamt of owning a BMW, or vacation in Switzerland, or just living a life mask-free like old days… We all planned a perfect script for it. Though, when it is actually happening, you just can’t express it, and that too is all for the good. Because sometimes the realities are more beautiful than imaginary descriptions.
But that’s all about our dreams, how about making someone else’s dream come true. How does that looks like or feel like?
Remember when MS Dhoni hit the winning six? That one six was not just the dream of the players playing the match, but also the dream of the whole nation to win the Cricket World Cup again, and on our own soil. That night, the whole nation celebrated and was happy. Whether they watch cricket or not, that night they celebrated. The players made one of the dreams of the whole nation come true. And no money can be a better payout than the happiness and celebration of all the people.
Another example, ISRO, Mars Mission. The first nation to reach Mars in the first attempt. The whole nation celebrated the hard work of scientists. No matter how much they know about astronomy and astrophysics, but everyone was a science expert that day. Everyone believed in science!
These are pretty big, right? How about talking of way smaller dreams. Many people have still not seen any movie in the theatre, or had lunch/dinner in a restaurant, or have boarded a flight. Here, I request you to take a pause from your life, and think how good it could be if you are able to make one dream come true for someone else?
Maybe I have shared in previous blogs, we always keep talking about dreams dreams dreams, but if we are asked to pen down top 100 or even top 50 dreams right now, we won’t be able to! We will start off with very big dreams, like owning a mansion, or holiday in Switzerland, or maybe a Cruise Vacation, but in the end, we will be writing dreams like, to wake up as late as we want and no one complaining, eating our favourite food and not getting fat.
We all have dreams, both big and small, and when a dream comes true, joy and happiness are always the same. So imagine if you can gift that happiness to someone with your little efforts? Maybe it involves some money, but it will payout with someone’s happiness and lifetime memory, just food for thought!
Recently I was listening to a podcast, where a person said, “May your dreams never come true! And you achieve that success that you have never dreamed of!” A single statement surprising in both ways, but so true. We create our dreams and run after them, to make them true. But all dreams come true, it’s not necessary. We just can’t spend the whole life running after dreams, and totally forget to live the life itself. Sometimes, we get the things that we have never dreamed of, just like writing these blogs. Blogging was never my dream, but today, it is one of my biggest joys. You also have those examples in your life, for some, it is cooking, for some it is travel, and so on. Don’t forget to live these moments just running after dreams.
No, I don’t mean that dreams are not necessary. They are important because they inspire and motivate us. Even someone else can be inspired by your dream, so yes they are important in a big way, and should never be underestimated. However, guaranteeing that every dream will come true, I am sorry, but it is not possible. One can try with effort, but results are sometimes not the way we want.
There is a saying in Bhagwad Geeta, which is quite true, that once our dream come true, or we succeed, our human will is to succeed more, and more. And when we keep succeeding, we forget our roots and start becoming egoistic.
“Be Modest! A lot was accomplished before you were born.”
And when we fail, then also, we forget what we achieved. How much effort we put in and how many people supported and maybe sacrificed for us in trying to make our dream come true.
“Remember no one makes it alone. Have a grateful heart, and be quick to acknowledge who helped you.”
Happy New Year 2022! May this year, you live your life!
Cheers!
