Hey reader,

There’s an app called Cryptogram, I found one day while exploring out options for a light app or game to refresh my mind after work. This is a simple yet interesting app where you have to complete the inspirational quotes by filling in the letters.

A few days back, while using it, I completed one quote, which goes like below:

We are born alone, we live alone, we die alone, only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we are not alone.
Orson Welles

I’m not sure why but it took a toll on the thinking brain a lot. It seems pretty much a simple quote stating about the importance of love and friendships, though leaves a variety of takeaways one could have, for instance, calling out every relation and friendship just an illusion.

We all have gone through a lot of sad departs with this year, few with the pandemic, few with nature, few with old illness and a few who did it for themselves. For a few days, we all stay in a shock, and then as it is called, the show must go on and the life continues. Maybe with a fewer illusion.

At this point, I want you to do one thing. I know like my old habit of giving you tasks in blogs and like your habit, of not doing it, you won’t this one as well. But still, if you can, I want you to open your contacts on your phone. I want you to start from the letter A and scroll through Z reading each name.

In the course of our lifetime journey, we meet so many passengers. Some stay for a short time and some may be longer. Our journies are different and our destinations are also different. We meet, we spend time and ultimately fall apart by just staying contact in each other’s phone, or maybe in some part of the memory. Some meet at the childhood, and reading out the name reminds how we used to play together in the sports period, or the fun we had in riding the same ride again and again at a theme park in a school picnic. Some names remind of the time, how we use to practice endlessly bunking college lectures and then performing even badly at the final stages. Some remind of those first meetings at the first internships and then having endless chats in the following years. And so on. When I do this act, I get an impression in my mind of at least one instance, one moment that I shared with that person. This is something which is always in there, in our head, but with the life, we get occupied with various other things, and that moment just gets somewhere in our memories and the person just there in the contacts.

Now why this, we all are mortal, and someday we will get to know the news about that name too. When that news comes, many times it happens that we wished to have said something to them before it has happened. Why not today, when we actually have time. The life will happen, the work will happen, and the news will also come someday. If we ever have a moment, it’s now. No, I don’t want you to start calling each and every contact of your phone. But maybe a few, with whom you might have shared a close time once. I believe that it would be better than saying it at the end, that he/she could have talked to me once. Posting the stories, we are listening, later, it would be better to start talking now, and maybe that situation will never happen where we would actually have to put the stories. Rather than saying, we care, if we can actually start caring by just checking upon each other, the world will become a better place.

I was writing about the unprecedented events which could happen anytime and how we deal with it, it was all prepared to get posted, but then this quote, just changed everything. It will stay in the draft a Lil longer as this one needs to go out as early as possible. I’m not a leader to bring a change in the community or in human lives, but if even one of the reader reading this, can reach out to even one person to check and he/she drops the thought of taking his/her life with that one check, maybe I would feel better that I saved one life.

People, we have so many resources to make this planet a better place, we have a developed mind, and art to use it for the better of everything. Let’s not ruin this. Let’s just not wake up one more day to get the day spent, take a step to do something better with the planet, with nature, with the animals and birds and at least to make a better illusion for humans, maybe as Neil Armstrong said,

That’s one step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

Thank you!
