Hey Reader,
This blog is gonna be from one of my favourite topics. Before we talk about it, I would like you to listen to this beautiful song from Armin van Buuren:
“Everyone’s connected but no one is connecting
The human in me is long and missing
Tell me, have you seen it?
Have you seen it?”
This video sums up everything about urban life and culture. If you are one who travels in public transport quite frequently, you would have experienced it. Humanity is missing. Human inside us is on the verge of extinction. Have you ever thought what would happen if you collapse somewhere out of the blue or get into an accident somewhere? How will your family reach out to you? How will the strangers around you identify you? Should you carry your ID? and so on…
We fear all the consequences that could happen thereafter. Though, we restrict ourselves from talking to people, family, and friends. This is to all my friends and colleagues who happen to be a closed book, who don’t talk to anyone and deal with everything in their life on their own, please talk! It could be that it’s going fine for now, but for how long is it gonna stay this way? Who knows… the day you need someone, you won’t find him/her!
“I have never been lost, but I will admit to being confused for several weeks.”
Daniel Boone
There is not a single person who has not gone through depression or anxiety in their life. The reason could be small or big, but we can’t deny the fact that each and every one of us has gone through it at some point in life. It’s normal and absolutely fine as it is also one of the feelings a human can experience. But the problem lies in the question: how many of us have actually bothered to share it with someone? It just gets bigger and bigger with regular minor/major disappointments in life due to current competition in every sphere of life. You could have been dealing with yourself quite good by now, as many modern-day saints say “You have to deal with your nonsense on your own!!” , But do you really think that you have all the solutions with you?
Here are some interesting facts:
- India Is The World’s Most Depressed Country With Every 6th Indian Suffering From Mental Illness.
- A study reported in WHO, conducted for the National Care Of Medical Health (NCMH) states that at least 6.5 percent of the Indian population suffers from some form of the serious mental disorder, with no discernible rural-urban differences. Though there are effective measures and treatments, there is an extreme shortage of psychologists, psychiatrists, and doctors. As reported in 2014, it was as low as ”one in 100,000 people”.
The average suicide rate in India is 10.9 for every one lakh people and the majority of people who commit suicide are below 44 years of age. - Most of the times, talking about mental health is considered to be a taboo in our society. This has further prevented people from speaking up about their mental health issues. It is high time that we start taking the issue of mental health seriously, or else it might soon turn into an epidemic in India.

“Having anxiety and depression is like being scared and tired at the same time. It’s the fear of failure, but no urge to be productive. It’s wanting friends, but hating to socialize. It’s wanting to be alone, but not wanting to be lonely. It’s feeling everything at once then feeling paralyzingly numb.”
Quite relative… isn’t it? Gone through it… correct? Then why shy of saying it? It’s not a crime to be ashamed of! I have been through depression and anxiety, and I am not Ashamed to accept it. (Must have heard this recently)
Another thing which I have heard many times is that there is no one who really cares to listen to someone’s problems. You know, there are 7.6 billion people in the world, and if you are saying that you are not able to find one person who actually cares to listen, then my friend, you are in some serious trouble and the problem is within you. If you want people to trust you, you need to build your trust in them first. Relationships don’t build-up in a day, it takes time, my friend!
“The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.”
Ernest Hemingway
When we know we are missing humanity, we know we have problems, we know that there are people who care to listen to us, then why don’t we talk to them, and… BUILD CONNECTIONS!
“The need for connection and community is primal, as fundamental as the need for air, water, and food.”
Dean Ornish
